1958, June 26th

Founded

FOUNDER DON TIRSO UYTENGSU

FOUNDER
DON TIRSO UYTENGSU

Registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission as a Corporation primarily to engage in flour milling.

1961

Flour mill plant established

FLOUR MILL PLANT, LAPU-LAPU 1961

Completion of first flour mill in Lapu-lapu City, Cebu, and start of operations.
1962

Expanded to other integrated operations

GMC expanded to other integrated operations such as feed milling, maize milling, soybean milling, yeast production, livestock raising and processing, and manufacture of various complementary consumer products such as pasta, instant noodles, snack foods, coffee and cooking oils.

1965

Corn Mill plant established

GMC established a corn mill in Lapu-Lapu Cebu.

1966

Luzon Expansion

GMC began its operation in Luzon with the establishment of Agri-business, focusing on piggery & poultry. This was also the year when it started the manufacture of fermented products, with the incorporation of Basic Foods Corporation and partnering with Universal Foods Corporation.
1975

Production of corn starch

GMC expanded into the production of cornstarch.

1982

Manufacture of consumer products

GMC ventured into the manufacture and sale of consumer products such as snack foods and instant noodles.

1988

Merging of GMC and Basic Foods Corporation

Basic Foods Corporation was merged with GMC to become the Fermentation Division.

1989

Manufacture of “Kaffe de Oro”

GMC began to manufacture and market coffee products under its own brand, “Kaffe de Oro.”

1989

Established a Soybean Extraction Plant in Batangas

The Soybean Milling Division was formed with the acquisition of the Phil-Asia Food Industries complex in Batangas, City from the Asset Privatization Trust.
1998
New President to champion brand equity

George K. Young became Chairman, heralding the company’s new thrust to strengthen its brand equity.

2000

George U. Young, Jr. became Chairman and President

George U. Young, Jr. became Chairman and President to continue and preserve the goodwill of the company built over the years.

Feed Mill Plant in CDO
GMC established a feed mill plant in Cagayan de Oro City.
2008
50th Founding Anniversary
GMC celebrated its 50th founding anniversary.
2015

Monumental Facility upgrades

Upgraded Logistics & Port Facilities for Cebu, Davao, and Cagayan de Oro.
2019

Installation of Feed Mill 2 Plant

Completion of another feed mill plant in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

GMC Flour and Bakery Products Food Safety management system was certified to FSSC 22000 4.1

Food Safety System Certification

The certification scope covers Manufacturing of Hard, Soft, and Blended Wheat Flour and Bakery Products, from receipt of materials, milling of wheat, storage and dispatch of finished products.

2021

GMC Feed Safety Management System was certified to ISO 22000:2018 FSMS

ISO 22000:2018 Food Safety Management System

The certification scope covers Manufacturing of Swine and Poultry feeds in mash, pellet and crumble form, from receipt of feed ingredient and materials, storage, pelletizing, cooling, packing, and dispatch of finished products.

GMC attained FSSC 22000 Version 5.1 for its Flour and Bakery Ingredients’ FSMS

Today

As the Company reaches its 60th year of existence and operation, it remains strong, resilient and focused in providing quality products and services to its customers. In pursuit thereof, it continues to diversify its operation with its manufacturing complex in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, a feed milling plant and corn buying terminal in Cagayan De Oro, and its grain storage facility in General Santos City.
