DOLE CERTIFIES GMC-CEBU A SAFETY-COMPLIANT COMPANY

General Milling Corporation was issued a Safety Seal Certification by the Department of Labor and Employment Region-7 on October 14, 2021. The Safety Seal is an affirmation by DOLE that GMC – Cebu is compliant with the Supplemental Guidelines on Workplace Prevention and Control of COVID-19 as set by DTI and DOLE.  The inspection by DOLE representatives to validate that GMC follows the health standards set by the government was conducted on October 6, 2021.

Recognizing the importance of maintaining a healthy workforce, GMC has been actively supporting the government’s initiatives to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace.  Additionally, to enhance the company’s Covid-19 prevention effort, GMC has put in place stringent measures using the digital technology like the installation of a thermal temperature sensor at the main entrance for prompt symptoms monitoring, and acquisition of an emergency vehicle to readily transport medical responders to the emergency location and patients to the nearest treatment center.

GMC is continuously educating its employees the importance of prevention and following health policies and the consequence of a COVID-19 outbreak in the workplace. Lectures about the significance of vaccines were also given to encourage employees to avail the COVID-19 vaccination program.

During the past months, GMC’s health and safety group has been collaborating with the local Department of Health for the obtainment of the COVID-19 vaccines for all its personnel and 3rd Party Service Providers. As of the latest count, 92% vaccination roll-out has already been achieved from GMC VISMIN employees and service providers. Additionally, GMC regularly conducts antigen tests for selective employees especially those unvaccinated to detect asymptomatic cases.

In its commitment to sustain a safe workplace, GMC will continue to evaluate the company’s existing health protocols and processes to determine its sufficiency in protecting the employees’ well-being.

   All personnel are required to wash and sanitize their hands upon entry with the washing facility provided. Thermal Temperature Sensors are also installed on the turnstiles for prompt symptoms monitoring.

   

Tire and foot baths are provided at the main entrance for disinfection purposes.

       

Floor markings are provided in offices and common areas to remind employees to observe the social distancing rule. Eating cubicles are also installed in the canteen to prevent employees from talking while having their meals.

                   

One of the identified Isolation Areas of GMC is located near the Main Entrance. The other Isolation Area is situated near the Industrial Gate. Rapid Antigen test is also done every month by the GMC OSH personnel to selected employees, especially those unvaccinated individuals.
