GMC Innovation Centre, The Groundbreaking Ceremony

On October 9, 2021, a ceremonial groundbreaking was held at the GMC Plaza compound at M.J.Cuenco Avenue, Cebu City to begin the construction of General Milling Corporation’s soon to rise building named the GMC Innovation Centre.

GMC recognizes the important role that the Innovation Centre plays in achieving GMC’s vision for continuous product improvement to meet its customers’ changing needs and demands.

The GMC Innovation Centre is a 3-storey commercial building to be constructed in a prime location in the downtown area of Cebu City. The building will sit on a 10,352 sqm property of GMC with a total lot area of 1,513 sqm and a gross floor area of 3,196 sqm. The building will have a modern and environment friendly design and structure. It will exude an open, inviting and warm atmosphere.  Additionally, the entire facility will be safe and secure for all employees, customers and guests.  

Cebu Bakers Avenue will occupy the main part of the ground floor of the building for its baking school equipped with state-of-the-art baking and food processing equipment.

The ground breaking ceremony commenced with a prayer and blessing by Fr. Brian Brigoli.  GMC representatives in attendance were:  Sanny Tamayo, Property Management Manager; Mr. Lawrence Pepito, Purchasing Manager; and Roberto Gudmalin, Land Administration Officer.  Also present were the key design team members, Architect Sherwin Masapequena and Structural Engineer Erwin Ponce. Architect Paul G. Morgia, President of the appointed contractor Pro Builders Inc, also graced the occasion.

With the commencement of the construction of the building, GMC is looking forward to making the Innovation Centre available soon, and work in partnership with customers to help grow their business through innovations in baking technology and product development.
